Guest Tips

Choose your room carefully. This hotel has different wings-some are with AC and some just fans. Given the general heat and humidity of Yogyakarta, it is highly recommended that you spend the extra few dollars for an air-con room. Further to this, ask to see the room before you accept the key; try getting a second-floor-pool-facing room-these tend to be breezier and have a bit more private situation than sharing with passersby on the window ground floor.

Transport is key to enjoying Jogja. While Prawirotaman is walkable, the rest of the city is not. You can rent a motorbike directly from the hotel or from the many rental shops on the street. This is the most efficient way to get to Prambanan or Borobudur temples. If you are not comfortable driving, download the Gojek or Grab apps immediately. They are cheap, safe, and allow you to order a motorbike taxi or food delivery right to the hotel lobby.

And, set your expectations on amenities. This is an old hotel that depends more on its charm and rates than maintenance. The soap provided is basic, bring your own toiletries. Also, bring cash. While indeed most places within the so-called "International Village" do accept cards, big or small- more humble warungs (eateries) as well as street vendors operate on cash; there are money changers plus ATMs along the street but having small denominations of Rupiah always helps for tipping those ever-present parking attendants or buying some street snack like Martabak.
